The 2018 recipients are:

Ellie Kate Cook

Six-year-old Ellie Kate loves the color pink, princesses, farmhouses, barns, and horses. She was adopted from China at the age of 20 months. Originally deaf, but with the help of cochlear implants, Ellie Kate has been able to hear for the past 3 years, but she is still behind. She began kindergarten this past year and while she struggles to keep up with her peers, she is making tremendous strides. Ellie Kate’s wonderful family includes two brothers ages 10 and 14, and her mom and dad are currently in the process of adopting another little girl with a hearing loss.  Her playhouse will expand her language capabilities, social, and play skills and will also benefit her new sibling with hearing loss.

Lucas Tucker

Diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth, seven-year-old Lucas has a larger than life personality. He loves meeting new people, stuffed animals, learning about new things, Michael Jackson and shoes, for which he has given a name to every pair in his household. Lucas’s loving family includes two brothers ages 10 and 15. He has low muscle tone, cognitive and speech delay, and his new playhouse will assist him in the life skills he requires, muscle tone, social skills, and very importantly, his independence.

History of Kosair Classic Car Giveaway: In 2009, the late Bob Beatty began hitting the town each year with a classic car in tow to help raise money for Kosair Kids® in need of life saving organ transplants. Every year since Bob and his team started the Classic Car Raffle, a classic car has been taken around town where $10 chances have been sold.

Since 2009, the Classic Car Raffle has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Kosair Kids®. Last year, the car giveaway grossed approximately $150,000 for a cause that was so dear to Bob’s heart.

Bob himself was the recipient of a new heart he called “Ernie.” This second chance at life was Bob’s inspiration to create the car giveaway and help children in need. Sadly, Bob Beatty passed away in late 2014, but the tradition he began will hopefully continue for years to come.
