Kosair Charities collects new books and school supplies for Kosair Kids®, especially those who have limited or no access to educational material in their homes. New books and school supplies for all ages and grade levels are needed. Literacy and education are critical to healthy child development. Books and school supplies are the key that opens the door to a lifetime of education.
If you would like to help give Kosair Kids® a chance to experience the joy of reading, consider hosting a book drive! Contact Kaitlin White at firstname.lastname@example.org or 502-637-7696 ext. 106 to get started. Donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm at 982 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY 40217.
Each year, Kosair Charities hosts a Holiday Party for upwards of 500 Kosair Kids® where we distribute our toy collection. We invite many of our supported agencies including: Heuser Hearing Institute, Spina Bifida, Visually Impaired Preschool, Down Syndrome of Louisville, Americana Community Center, Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies, and many others.
The party gives these children the chance to forget about their medical issues and just be a kid. Each child gets to enjoy games, cookies, dancing, and most importantly a trip to see Santa and Mrs. Claus where they receive a gift, book and stuffed animal, from the Louisville Zoo. For some of these children these may be the only gift they receive for the holidays.
We are always accepting donations of NEW toys and books for children up to 12 years of age. We need over 1,000 gifts to be wrapped and ready to be given out each December, and for this we depend solely on donations. We ask that all toys be new and in the box, and that they are unwrapped. We try to make sure that each child receives an age and gender appropriate gift, so we need to be able to see what each item is.
If you would like to hold a toy drive and need more information or a collection bin contact Kaitlin White at email@example.com or 502-814-9911. Donations can be dropped off at: 982 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY 40217.
Kosair Charities® Pedal Power was created to continue the work of the late Ada Lee Kane. When Ada Lee volunteered at the 2010 Kosair Charities Annual Holiday Party she was unhappy with the small number of bikes we had to give to the children. Through donations Ada Lee collected over 80 bikes, for the 2011 Holiday Party, almost 10 times the amount we had previously given away. Her ultimate goal was to have every child attending the holiday party leave with a new bicycle and helmet.
With the help of V3 Jeep Shop’s annual bike drive for our Kosair Kids® Holiday Party, the amount of bikes donated to us each year continues to grow! In order to keep children safe on their new bikes, we supply each of them with a new helmet. Become a helmet champion by donating a brand new helmet to our Pedal Power program.
If you would like to hold a helmet drive and need more information or a collection bin, contact Kaitlin White at firstname.lastname@example.org or 502-814-9911. New bikes or helmet(s) can be dropped off at 982 Eastern Parkway Louisville, KY 40217.
The Kosair Charities Kids Club is inspired by kids doing their part in the community and paying it forward. The mission is to highlight compassion at a young age and show children that the power of giving makes a difference and can be fun. These cool kids support Kosair Charities in various ways such as (but not limited to) coordinating lemonade stands, hosting his or her birthday party to collect toys for Kosair Kids® in need, or organizing a collection for books, toys and new stuffed animals!
Members of the Kosair Charities Kids Club will receive a post on social media, thank you note acknowledging their efforts, and possible invitations to wrap gifts.
To learn more about joining the Kids Club, contact Marki Hartlage at email@example.com or call 502-814-9897.
