Louisville, KY— January 29, 2021— Kosair Charities’ Board Chair, H.I. Stroth, Jr. announced due to family circumstances and other considerations, he will step down from his role, effective January 13, 2021. H.I. has served as board chair since 2019, and will remain a member of the Kosair Charities Board for which he has served for over 10 years.
H. has spent his adult career helping enhance the health and well-being of kids. As chair, H. led a board and nearly a 100-year-old organization, which awards over $16 million a year to agencies that help children. His and the entire board’s focus has been on ending child abuse in Kentucky, advocating at the state, local and national levels for funds, providing educational opportunities for our most precious resource, helping fund crucial medical research, and providing financial support for healthcare for children whose families cannot pay. In this volunteer role, H. oversaw all board committees, the president of the organization, as well as facilitated monthly board meetings and a robust gifts and grants process.
Ken Reiss, a board member since 2003, was unanimously elected board chair on January 13. Reiss has held board leadership positions of Vice Chairman, Nominations Committee Chair, as well as key positions on the Real Estate, Statues, Signage and Insurance Committee; Grants Committee; and Legal and Bylaws Committee. “I am grateful beyond words for this honor,” Reiss said. “Thank you to my fellow board members, as well as the Kosair Charities president and staff, for entrusting me with the privilege and great responsibility of this role.” Board members all serve in a volunteer capacity. Reiss, who is retired as president of Louisville Frame and Fender, has served on the Kosair Charities Board of Directors since 2003, in addition life-long community involvement and volunteer roles.
Including Reiss, the Board of Directors Executive Committee of the 24-member board includes: John Burgin (Vice Chairman), Kirk Carter (Treasurer), Dwight Maddox (Secretary), and Larry Craig (At-Large Member).
“I would like to thank H. for his past, present, and continued service to Kosair Charities and our entire community,” said Kosair Charities President, Keith Inman. “I am looking forward to working with Ken, the Executive Committee, and entire Board as we continue to provide resources to help children in Kentucky and Southern Indiana reach their full potential.”
