Meet Sydney Humphressa Kosair Kid
Fueled by a seemingly endless amount of energy, 2-year-old
Sydney Humphress darts around the yard of her family's home
in Campbellsville, Kentucky. "She loves to go outside
every chance she gets," said Sydney's mother, Anna Humphress.
"Out of everything, she seems to enjoy going outside
most of all. She really appreciates the simple things in life,
like just playing in the sunshine."
Life for Sydney wasn't always so simple, though. As
a cancer survivor, the toddler has already learned that life
can be tough sometimes. But that doesn't stop her. "She
goes and goes and goes," her mother added with a laugh.
Although Sydney seems like a typical toddler now, she wasn't
always as active. Yet, with the help of treatment she received
at Kosair Children's Hospital and plenty of prayers,
the cancer that once invaded Sydney's precious young
body is in remission. "We're so thankful she's
doing better," Anna said. "We give a lot of credit
to Kosair Children's Hospital for saving her."
Anna and J.D. Humphress, Sydney's father, also attribute
their child's successful recovery to the help that Kosair
Charities provides to Kosair Children's Hospital. "We
know that the hospital would not even be there if it wasn't
for the Shriners and Kosair Charities," Anna said. "Without
Kosair Charities doing what it does, we might not have had
such a wonderful hospital to take Sydney to."
Sydney's parents say they will be forever grateful to the
hospital and Kosair Charities for helping save their brown-eyed
bundle of joy and energy. "Every day, we're thankful
she's here with us," Anna concluded. "We can't say
enough about how much we appreciate everything. It could
have made a big difference if there was not a Kosair
Children's Hospital or Kosair Charities."
Kosair Charities protecting the most precious gift
of all, thanks to the generosity of caring people like you!
