Meet Joseph Stephensa Kosair Kid
Nine-year-old Joseph Stephens is a true survivoralive
despite a rare genetic disorder that causes cranial and facial
abnormalities, serious respiratory problems and several physical
conditions. But none of those challenges or more than 40 operations
he has endured have stopped him from becoming the history/current
events expert at his school in Richmond, Kentucky. He's also
a boy who loves to toss a football around.
His parents credit Joseph's survival to the care he received
at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville where he was flown
shortly after his birth. Much of the high-tech equipment that
saved his life wasn't available in the eastern part of the
state, but thanks to generous donors, it was available at
Kosair.
"Kosair Charities was instrumental in saving our son's
life," Joni Stephens said. "Without Kosair Charities,
the hospital wouldn't have been there with the equipment when
we needed it."
Joseph's father, Pat, added, "Kosair Charities and Kosair
Children's Hospital are there to help families like ours."
Kosair Charities protecting the most precious gift
of all, thanks to the generosity of caring people like you!
