Dreams Take Flight is an annual event in celebration of the organizations in our community that serve children. The generosity of an entire year culminates in an evening where Shriners, doctors, donors, grant recipients, and Kosair Kids all gather to celebrate the grants made possible by the supporters of Kosair Charities.

18th Annual UPS Golf Classic
September 22, 2012 • First tee-off at 8:00 a.m.
Enjoy beautiful Quail Chase Golf Course in Louisville at the 18th Annual UPS Golf Classic for Kosair. All proceeds benefit us. By participating in the Kosair Charities Co-Ed Softball Tournament, your team will help Kosair Kids like Lexi Palmer. At seven weeks old, she was diagnosed with a very rare disease (infantile botulism). When bills began to pile up, Kosair Charities stepped in and paid all of Lexi’s hospital and therapy bills. Today, she is a healthy and happy three-year-old!

Support Kosair Charities at the 2012 Derby City Comic Con event. All proceeds from the silent auction benefit Kosair. Bidding is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At 3:30, a celebrity auctioneer will auction off select high-demand items. The event is Saturday, June 30, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Admission is free for children 12 and under, and $10 for adults. The Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Join us in celebration of the state’s top athletes as the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes the 2012 class on June 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Louisville. This year’s class includes former U of L women’s basketball player Angel McCoughtry, Churchill Downs, Lee Corso and many more. Tickets are $75 per person or $600 for a table of 8. The evening’s activities include the induction ceremony, dinner and a silent auction. All proceeds of the silent auction benefit Kosair. RSVP here.

3rd Annual Hooters Hop
June 02, 2012 • Day begins at 11:30 a.m.
Wings, motorcycles, poker hands and Kosair Charities ⎯ what else could anyone need? Kentucky Widows Sons, The Kentucky Motorcycle Association and Hooters Restaurants present the 3rd Annual Hooters Hop with all proceeds benefiting Kosair Kids. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. on June 2. Ride for only $20.00 and enjoy poker hands for $5.00. Plus, we’ll have more prizes, music and, of course, delicious food. Open to all bikes and cars. Rain date is June 23.

Three of Las Vegas’ most prominent magicians are bringing their acts to Louisville to help raise money for our Kosair Kids. Come and join us on May 20, 2012 at the Louisville Palace for our 5th annual magic show “The Magic and the Wonder” starring Vegas headliners Ardan James, Stephen Bargatze, and duo Kalin and Jinger, with special guests Patrick and Janice Miller. Proceeds from this magic show will support Kosair Charities and our Kosair Kids!
This promises to be a night of fun and laughter for the whole family.
Doors open and the magic begins with 10 magicians in the lobby at 4:30pm. The show begins at 5:30pm.

2nd Annual Pam Miller Memorial Golf Scramble
May 19, 2012
Join us on Saturday at Valley View Golf Course, May 19, 2012, to honor the life of Kosair Kid Pam Miller at the 2nd Annual Pam Miller Memorial Golf Scramble.
Pam Miller was born into a large family on May 22, 1960. Her strength was tested and revealed at a young age when she contracted polio. With the help of Kosair Charities, Pam walked again. She was known for her grit, positive attitude, smile, and huge heart. Many who knew her loved her for her sense of humor; she always had everyone laughing. In 2005 Pam began her long, hard-fought battle with breast cancer. With the love and support of her friends, family and longtime boyfriend Frank Pack, Pam lived five more long, beautiful years. Pam never wanted her life to be defined by breast cancer, and to those who knew her, it never was. Instead it was defined by the people whose lives she touched along the way. Pam was a Kosair Kid, therefore friends and family members found it fitting to donate all proceeds of the golf scramble to Kosair Charities.
Team openings are available for $260, and individual for $65. Hole sponsorships start at $75. For those wishing to support the scramble but unable to participate in the scramble, join us for lunch $10 and raffle prizes following the scramble.

The 4th annual Stanley Walker Day and Concert
May 19, 2012 Starts at 1pm
Stanley Walker, a former Kosair Kid and country music legend, has created the Bluegrass Country Benefit Concert in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, to give back to the organization that, he says, saved his life. As a child, Walker was a patient at Kosair Crippled Children’s Hospital. Now in his 70s, Walker wanted to return the favor and decided to do it the only way he knows how, with music! Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the music.

2012 Volunteer Banquet
Thanks to everyone who came out for our Volunteer Banquet. We couldn’t do all that we do without the help and precious time of our wonderful volunteers. At the event, the Herrick family, Shawn, Raymond and Cole, took home the Volunteer of the Year award, while Ted Burgin won Shriner of the Year. Ada Lee Kane, who donated more than 80 bicycles to Kosair, was awarded the new Calling All Angels Award, and Park Community Federal Credit Union was named the Community Partner of the Year.

2012 Volunteers of the Year
This year’s Volunteers of the Year is the Herrick family, Shawn, Raymond and Cole. They started Cole’s Classic golf scramble in 2006 to give back to Kosair, which helped them with Cole’s early medical bills. The tournament consistently raises more than $40,000 annually for Kosair. The tournament has grown so much that it will now be known as the Kosair Classic and headed by a committee that includes the Herricks. It’s people like the Herrick family that allow Kosair to help others in need.

4th Annual Kosair Car Raffle
Thanks to Bob Beatty and his leadership for once again supporting Kosair Charities and our 4th Annual Car Raffle! This year, we’ll be giving away a 1938 Chevy Deluxe Coupe.
Beatty turned his passion for cars into a way to give back to the community. After receiving an organ transplant in 2007, he teamed with Kosair to create the Annual Car Raffle to benefit Kosair Charities’ children’s and organ transplant awareness.
The car will be given away on November 9th, but for an early look at the car, check back with our calendar and social media sites for where you can sneak a peek!
Tickets to win the car are only $10 and can be purchased through Mr. Beatty at 502-592-6860.

The car will be at Craig and Landreth Cars in Crestwood from now until next Thursday.
Next Friday 4-27-12 the car will be at “The Castle” School in Mt. Washington.
Saturday 4-28-12 will be in the LaGrange town Square.
